Our free-range cows graze on lush grass and enjoy a stress-free life in the beautiful British countryside.
What is Beef Skirt Good For?
Beef skirt is ideal for dishes like fajitas, stir-fries, and grilled steak sandwiches. Its robust flavour and loose texture make it perfect for absorbing marinades, enhancing its taste.
Is Beef Skirt the Same as Stewing Beef?
No, beef skirt is not the same as stewing beef. While both are tougher cuts, skirt steak is best suited for quick, high-heat cooking or slow braising, whereas stewing beef is typically used for slow-cooked dishes like stews and casseroles.
How Should Skirt Steak be Cooked?
Skirt steak should be cooked quickly over high heat to medium-rare for the best texture and flavour. This cut benefits from a quick sear on a hot grill or in a skillet, followed by a short resting period to keep it tender.
How Do You Keep Skirt Steak Tender?
To keep skirt steak tender, marinate it before cooking and slice it against the grain after cooking. Avoid overcooking, as this can make the meat tough and chewy.

To maintain the quality and freshness of skirt steak, it is recommended to store it in the refrigerator at a temperature of 32°F to 40°F (0°C to 4°C). Place the skirt steak in an airtight container or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap to prevent any exposure to air or odors. Properly stored, skirt steak can be refrigerated for up to 3-4 days. If you plan to store it for a longer period, you can also freeze the skirt steak. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil or place it in a freezer-safe bag or container. Frozen skirt steak can maintain its quality for approximately 2-3 months. When ready to use, thaw the steak in the refrigerator before cooking.
