Cooking Instructions
To prepare veal bones for cooking, follow these simple steps:
1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
2. Rinse the veal bones under cold water to remove any excess blood or debris.
3. Pat the bones dry with paper towels to ensure a crispy exterior.
4. Place the bones on a baking sheet or roasting pan in a single layer, leaving some space between them.
5. Drizzle the bones with a small amount of olive oil, and season them with salt and pepper to taste.
6. Optional: Add aromatic vegetables like onions, carrots, and celery to enhance the flavor.
7. Place the bones in the preheated oven and roast for about 30-40 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fragrant.
8. Carefully remove the bones from the oven and let them cool slightly before using them in your desired recipe.
9. Use the roasted veal bones to make a rich stock or broth for soups, stews, or sauces. Alternatively, you can use them to make bone marrow butter or other flavorful spreads.
10. Store any leftover bones in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze them for longer storage.
Note: Cooking times may vary depending on the size and thickness of the veal bones, so adjust accordingly.
Storage Instructions
To maintain the quality and freshness of veal bones, it is recommended to store them in the refrigerator at a temperature of 32°F to 40°F (0°C to 4°C). Place the veal bones in an airtight container or wrap them tightly in plastic wrap to prevent any exposure to air and moisture. Properly stored, veal bones can be refrigerated for up to 3-4 days. If you wish to extend their shelf life, you can also freeze the bones. Wrap them individually in plastic wrap or place them in a freezer-safe bag or container. Frozen veal bones can maintain their quality for approximately 2-3 months. When ready to use, thaw the bones in the refrigerator before incorporating them into your recipes.
